Poems of beauty, and musical lyrics

Do you know the value of "a day"? I could not have traveled this far without Poetry or Music:
I will try to capture a few favorites for this dreamer........., and keep adding to this particular blog as I find my keepers:

Annabel Lee
It was many and many a year ago, In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heavenCoveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchreIn this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soulOf the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreamsOf the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyesOf the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the sideOf my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,In her tomb by the sounding sea.

O Captain! My Captain!

O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up--for you the flag is flung--for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths--for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!This arm beneath your head;
It is some dream that on the deck,You've fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,Fallen cold and dead.

Question? (From: A Question of Balance)

Why do we never get an answer when we're knocking at the door ?
There's a thousand million questions about hate and death and war.
'Cause when we stop and look around us there is nothing that we need.
In a world of persecution that is burning in its greed.
Why do we never get an answer when we're knocking at the door ?
Because the truth is hard to swallow.That's what the war of love is for.

It's not the way that you say it when you do those things to me,
it's more the way that you mean it when you tell me what will be.
And when you stop and think about it you won't believe it's true.
That all the love you've been giving has all been meant for you.
I'm looking for someone to change my life
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could seewhat it's done to me
to lose the love I knew you'd safely lead me through.
Between the silence of the mountains and the crashing of the sea
there lies a land I once lived in and she's waiting there for me.
But in the grey of the morning my mind becomes confused
between the dead and the sleeping and the road that I must choose.

I'm looking for someone to change my life
I'm looking for a miracle in my life.
And if you could see what it's done to me
to lose the love I knew
you'd safely lead me through,
the land that I once knew
to learn as we grow old
the secrets of our soul.
It's not the way that you say it
when you do those things to me.
It's more the way you really mean it
when you tell me what will be.

Seasons In The Sun

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten
Together we've climbed hills and trees, Learned of love and A-B-C's
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky;
Now that the spring is in the air
Pretty girls are ev'rywhere
Think of me and I'll be there.

We had joy we had fun We had seasons in the sun;
But the hills that we climbed Were just seasons out of time.
Goodbye Papa please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family;
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
wonder how I got along.
Goodbye papa it's hard to die When all the birds are singing in the sky;
Now that the spring is in the air Little children ev'rywhere
When you'll see them I'll be there.
We had joy we had fun We had seasons in the sun;
But the wine and the song Like the seasons have all gone.

Goodbye Michelle my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun;
And ev'ry time that I was downY ou would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye Michelle it's hard to die When all the birds are singing in the sky;
Now that the spring is in the air With the flowers ev'rywhere;
I wish that we could both be there.
We had lives we had fun We had seasons in the sun;
But the stars we could reach Were just star-fish on the beach.
