"When was the last time, you ever saw the sunrise?" Still trying to see one each day, a girl said.
So as you celebrated on 12/31/2019 to see a fresh new year in, resolutions made or thought of, January 1st, 2020 comes in, you embrace her, a fresh start resolved on.
It was the year another great plague would strike, but you didn't know it yet, and all the time you embraced the new beginning.
In January you first heard of something strange occurring in China, and by March of 2020 it was here in the states, and by March 13th they were closing the schools in Chicago.
March 21st lead to an Illinois State ordered shutdown, only essential workers would continue going out into the threat everyday, the rest of us working from home, still not without threat of grocery stores, gas stations, trips up to work to process things as needed, running into people who could not get the drift to wear a mask.
Across the lands globally travel had been halted, now the Covid 19 was everywhere China apparent origination, but Italy, France, England, South Korea mentioned, and probably North Korea although new black outs there keep everything close to the cuff, and all across the United States, hospitals overwhelmed, lack of machinery, lack of protections, and yet this particular plague called a corona virus now zoned in on as Covid 19, have always wondered if there was a Covid 18, 17, 16, blast off.
I can't even describe the sorrow and grief felt by so many, no goodbyes to their family members, mass graves for so many, some unfortunate departed humans kept in trucks without refrigeration until the funeral homes were caught and refrigeration was arranged for.
Congested cities, congested Senior Homes, people with other medical conditions, smokers like myself with very poor odds of surviving, although at times I wonder if all the crap on my lungs didn't help me block it from finding the receptors it so desperately tries to find, all of these were hard hit areas. "wear sadness on my shoulder, like a worn out overcoat". (Emerson Lake & Palmer-Just take a Pebble)
Now it is May 31, 2020. Half a year is passed, and a horrific number of people sickened by the Covid 19, and way too many departed souls, hospitals still jammed packed with newbys, First they said it didn't usually present in chicldren, but when it does it shuts down their organs by causing poly-blood clots, much like poly-cystic disease that fills the kidneys with cysts until they can no longer function.
The stay at home order for Illinois is lifted, monday I head back to the work office, and the 5 lovely gents I WORK WITH, some of whom can't remember to keep their mask on, this I know due to my tuesday and thrusday processing mornings, I've already emailed them to cease shoving papers in my face to scanned, and to start using my in basket with an instruction note on it, it is not the same world, and I will be strong in keeping myself as safe as I can, "as the times they are a'changing" (Bobby Dylan)
I pray for my families, and my special loves, that we all keep on doing the right things, and avoid the Covid Beast of all Beasts.
