"When was the last time, you ever saw the sunrise?" And therein lies the real bottom lined question still. It all counts, each day.
So going back to finding an old friend, who had at one point been part of the family, and in large part a humorous part of some family gatherings, he dubbed us: Donkey Quixote, Hot Dog, and Irene Dumpling, and it stuck, at least amongst ourselves. His own mother he had dubbed as Eleanor Rigby.
Years back in Chicago I ran into an old class mate who indicated my old chum was in deep troubles, I've kept an ear out ever since, and did luck out about a year or two ago through facebook finding through his sister that he was alright, recently she approached me and told me he was now with a computer and facebook account, and to write him, and so I did.
Somewhere on his path years back he got into a band, the band led to drugs, the drugs led to Chaos mental and whom he was surrounding himself with, for him it had to do with his Dad dying, and possibly not in the best of terms, and it just kept on derailing from there, eventually as he came back from it he joined the union and worked at McCormick Place oddly enough doing their carpentry.
2012 finds him clean for 12 years, loving his caretaker job, having found some semblance of religion without the overkill, deer come up to his cabin and wait for him to feed them, the manager of the religious campgrounds lives within a block, people during this homeless rash drop their pets off to fend for themselves in the forest, he and his boss have adopted some of them, he has two black cats from what he describes during a phone call that he just loves, life is much better due to the animals.
He has sadly to say finished doing a hospice for Dear old Eleanor Rigby, she didn't die alone, she had her son with her, she stayed with him the last year or so, so somehow for my long lost friend, it is okay, he leads a simple life now, he is possibly a little damaged from all he tinkered with, but he still has a very good Aquarian Heart.
I am happy he arrived to a place of peace, in my younger days he was my third brother. And so an old path ends well.
